
Officers at Qiaoying police station in Xiamen, Fujian province helped two expats find their wallet within an hour of them reporting the incident on Aug 20.
The two expats, who cannot speak Chinese, lost the wallet when shopping. A passerby suggested that they call the police for help.
Local police officer Yang Wencong, who is proficient in English, investigated the matter. Police officers also accompanied the foreigners on a search for the wallet, which eventually led them to a convenience store.
The shopkeeper, who decided to safekeep the wallet after the two foreigners accidentally left it behind, presented it to the police when the group entered the store.
