Li Xiaoping, director of the foreign affairs office of Xiamen, Fujian province (XMFAO), met with a delegation from Marubeni Co, a Japanese trading and investment company, on July 15.

Li extended a warm welcome to the delegation and discussed with Shinoda Toshio, chairman and general manager of Marubeni (Shanghai) Co, about deepening cooperation between the two sides.

"Xiamen boasts a sound business environment and has attracted many Japanese organizations to visit and invest in the city," said Li during his briefing to the delegation on Xiamen's economic and social development.

"The Xiamen government has attached great importance to the partnership with Japan. The foreign affairs office will provide full support for the company's development in Xiamen."

At the meeting, Lin Zhenya, deputy director of Xiamen's commerce bureau, spoke about the city's trade with Japan, suggesting that the two sides strengthen cooperation in the coffee roasting sector, cross-border e-commerce and third-party markets.

Shinoda Toshio said Xiamen, as a strategic city along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, enjoys many preferential policies. He added that the visit allowed him to learn more about Xiamen's advantages.

Shinoda Toshio also accepted Xiamen's invitation to the China International Fair for Investment and Trade, which will be held in Xiamen from Sept 8 to 11.
