1. XMFAO joins local customs in Party building activity

A delegation of Communist Party of China members from the foreign affairs office of Xiamen, Fujian province (XMFAO) took part in a Party building activity hosted by the local customs on July 8.
Officers from XMFAO, headed by the office's deputy director Kong Suting, visited an exhibition hall themed around the building of a clean government and held discussions with customs officers on how to improve work processes.
During the activity, Kong reviewed XMFAO's cooperation with the customs department in reassuring local expats, helping foreign companies resume operations and promoting international exchange amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
She also expressed hoped that the two sides would strengthen the partnership in promoting international exchange.

An online conference for members of the United Cities and Local Government (UCLG) from the Chinese mainland was held on July 9.
Senior officials at XMFAO, including Li Xiaoping, the office's director and Lin Na, a senior investigator, attended the conference and discussed with other member cities how they could proactively participate in UCLG activities and give Chinese cities a greater say on the international stage.
Song Jingwu, secretary-general of UCLG ASPAC, addressed the conference and suggested that member cities should facilitate communication with foreign local governments, promote cooperation with countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and play a positive role in the global fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.
3. XMFAO supports intl exchange of Jimei Industrial College

A delegation from XMFAO, headed by the office's deputy director Yu Hao, visited Jimei Industrial College in Xiamen on July 10.
Tao Shunsheng, president of the college, briefed the delegation on the college's international cooperation, including setting up classes especially for students from BRI countries, and building AHK (Xiamen) China-Germany Vocational Training Center.
Yu said that international cooperation in education will help the city enhance its competitiveness. He hoped that the college will continue improving its teaching methods and strengthen cooperation with companies to cultivate more highly skilled workers.
Yu also promised that the foreign affairs office will help the college enhance its reputation and facilitate its cooperation with foreign-funded companies.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
