The city of Xiamen, in East China's Fujian province, was included on a list of China's 10 best cities to live in for 2019 and 2020, which was released by China Central Television on July 6, Xiamen Daily reported.
The coastal city was also rated among the five cities that are the best to live in for people aged from 18 to 35, with the other four being Hefei, Qingdao, Kunming and Haikou.
Launched by the National Bureau of Statistics, China Post Group and the National Institute of Development at Peking University, the survey collected 130,000 responses from people around the country.
Senses of contentment, happiness and security were the three top criteria of the survey, with the public having high satisfaction over Xiamen's water and air quality, security, medical service, education and green spaces.
Xiamen was also honored as a "National Ecological Garden City" in April. By the end of 2019, the city boasted a green area of 16,251.76 hectares.
The city's air quality ranked fourth among 168 major cities nationwide in 2019, while its water quality ranked third among cities at municipal level and above.
In a government development plan published on May 18, top priority was given to Xiamen's social welfare projects, involving education, medical services, sports facilities and all-in-one tourism.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
