A total of 50,000 surgical masks and 10,000 N95 masks were delivered from Xiamen, East China's Fujian province to Wellington, New Zealand and Ginowan, Japan on July 2.
This was the fifth batch of medical supplies the city has sent to help its international sister cities fight the COVID-19 outbreak.
The boxes were decorated with traditional Chinese sayings, which expressed Xiamen's solidarity with its international friends.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Xiamen has upheld the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind and proactively provided support to overcome the global health crisis.
To date, the city's foreign affairs office has sent letters and made phone calls to 30 friendship cities worldwide to express solicitude and share its experience in preventing and controlling the epidemic. It also sent 180,000 surgical masks and 150,000 N95 masks to 17 of these cities.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
