As of 0:00 June 28, the airport distribution center for inbound travelers in Xiamen, Fujian province has received 3,053 flights and serviced 61,402 passengers, making it the largest inbound traveler distribution center in China, Xiamen Daily reported.
Founded on Feb 28, the center has developed a highly efficient system which includes reception, temperature detection, information collection, and passenger distribution.
Over the past four months, officers have worked at the center in shifts and committed themselves to improving services and easing epidemic-induced anxiety among travelers.
Among them is Ma Dewei from the culture and tourism bureau of Huli district, who was the first to act as manager of the center.
Starting from nothing, Ma worked with 15 staff members to set up the center, which consists of six areas for traveler reception, information collection, and more.
Given that the working procedures were not complete, Ma and his coworkers had to explain the requirements to travelers repeatedly, even though they had lost their voices.
"The government entrusted us with a mission, so we must try our best to ensure people's safety and health," said Ma in a hoarse voice as he left the center.
Following Ma, there have been several other government officers managing the center, each working for a duration of approximately one month.
They have continued to update the work system and improve services at the center in order to ensure epidemic prevention measures are implemented in a strict and efficient manner.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
