May 22 marked the sixth anniversary of cooperative relations between Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, and Nice, a city in southeastern France.

Li Xiaoping, director of Xiamen's foreign affairs office, held a video meeting with Rudy Salles, vice-mayor of Nice, in celebration of the special day. They discussed the novel coronavirus outbreak and furthering bilateral cooperation.

Li thanked Nice for its support during the epidemic and said that Xiamen is now gradually returning to normal as the epidemic subsides.

He also showed solidity with Nice by stating that the people of Xiamen hope to work with Nice to overcome the health crisis.

Salles thanked Xiamen for donating 20,000 medical masks to Nice.

He said that Xiamen and Nice have laid a solid foundation for deepening cooperation over the past few years and suggested that the two cities should strengthen cooperation in tourism, world cultural heritage applications, the protection of relics, movies, ecological agriculture, sports, and arts.

During the meeting, Xu Jing, Xiamen’s education official, discussed reopening schools and teaching young students how to prevent the spread of the virus.
