Xiamen in East China's Fujian province has partially reopened its scenic spots as the COVID-19 epidemic wanes, with State-owned A-level scenic spots in the city offering free entry to tourists till June 30, according to an announcement released by the city's tourism bureau.
According to the announcement, tourist areas that have resumed operations will encourage visitors to reserve tickets online in advance, and go through real-name registration in order to control visitor flows and prevent large gatherings of people.
The tourist sites should accept no more than 30 percent of their daily visitor capacity, the announcement said.
Additionally, visitors are required to wear masks and have their temperatures taken before they are admitted. Visitors are also asked to maintain social distancing while they queue.
Tickets for all State-owned A-level scenic spots in Xiamen, including the popular Gulangyu Island, can be reserved online through the official WeChat account (visitxm) of the city's tourism bureau.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
