Officials from the Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province were invited by South Korea's Chinese embassy to attend a meeting in Xiamen on Dec 11.
The meeting was attended by nearly 20 representatives from nine offices of South Korea's local governments in China.
It is the first time that the South Korean embassy in China has invited the local Chinese Foreign Affairs Office to attend its internal meeting and to deliver a presentation on the Chinese city.
Li Xiaoping, director of Xiamen's Foreign Affairs Office, detailed the attendees on the city's economic development, urban construction, infrastructure, large-scale events and future plan.
All of the South Korean representatives were impressed by Xiamen's beautiful landscape and high quality development, saying that they would like to take the visit as an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Xiamen and seek further cooperation with the city.
The counselor of the South Korean embassy expected more cooperation with Xiamen in various fields to contribute to the friendly relations between the two countries.
After the meeting, the South Korean officials also visited Xiamen University and Gulangyu Island, a pedestrian-only island off the coast of Xiamen and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
