Chen Qiuxiong, deputy Party secretary of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province, met with a delegation of Russian journalists on Nov 2.
The delegation consisted of 10 members from five media outlets in Russia, including Tass, All-Russia State Television and Radio Company, and the Higher School of Economics in Moscow.
Chen extended a warm welcome to the journalists and reminded them of the close relationship Xiamen shares with Russia.
Chen added that the China-Europe (Xiamen) trains that link Xiamen with Europe travel mainly through Russia, which is also a popular overseas tourist destination for Xiamen residents.
He expressed hope that the Russian journalists introduce Xiamen to more Russian people.
Andrei Ostrovsky, head of the Russian delegation and deputy director of the Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that the Russian journalists were impressed by Xiamen's beautiful natural environment and friendly residents and vowed to spread the word about the city.
