At the invitation of the Xiamen government, Park Kyung-cheol, chief information officer of the Busan Port Authority, along with delegations from six major free economic zones in the Republic of Korea, attended the 2019 China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), which ran on Sept 8-11.
Park Kyung-cheol made a keynote speech at the Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum, describing the progress that has been made in smart port construction and the development of Busan Port as well as the challenges and opportunities brought about by new AI technologies.
Busan Port will strengthen cooperation with Xiamen Port, hoping to set an example for other ports as well as shipping and logistics enterprises around the world, Park added.
Officials from ROK free economic zones spoke highly of Xiamen's environment and economic and social development. They all looked forward to cooperate with Xiamen in various fields.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
