Yokoi Yutaka, Japanese ambassador to China, led a delegation to Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, from July 18 to 20.
Zhuang Jiahan, mayor of Xiamen, introduced the city's industrial development, business environment and urban management to the Japanese delegation at a meeting on July 18.
Zhuang said that as a pilot area for China's reform and opening up, Xiamen will continue advancing market-oriented reform and opening to the outside world in pursuit of high quality development.
He added that many of the Japanese-funded companies in Xiamen are well-managed, profitable, and contribute greatly to local development.
The mayor expects further cooperation with Japan in terms of investment, trade, tourism, culture and education.
Yokoi praised the tremendous achievements made by Xiamen over the past few years and thanked the city for its strong support of local Japanese companies.
He said that he was pleased to visit Xiamen again and deeply impressed by its pleasant environment and prosperous economy.
He promised that the Japanese embassy in China would encourage more Japanese companies to invest in Xiamen and make more contributions to maintain friendly relations between the two countries.
The Japanese delegation also visited Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co – one of the leading passenger vehicle manufacturers in China, Xiamen University and Gulangyu Island, a must-see scenic spot in Xiamen.
