A camera crew from France 24 and Franco-German public television channels visited Gulangyu in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province on July 15-17, to make a feature film about the island.
According to crew members, the film will take classical music its cue to recount the integration of Chinese and Western culture on Gulangyu through its architecture and citizens.
The film crew members also interviewed a local band named Leicuo and learned about the influence of western music on the island from band members.
Locals say the evocative atmosphere of Gulangyu Island attracts many film crews and visitors each year and the music hall on the island hosts public welfare concerts all year round.
The feature film is expected to be aired on French State TV Station in late November and will run about 13 to 15 minutes.
This year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and officials said that increasingly more French citizens want to visit China.
Officials added that the film would promote cultural exchanges between the two countries and enhance the reputation of Gulangyu and Xiamen internationally.
