A delegation of 25 people from the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) visited Xiamen in East China's Fujian province from July 8 to 11 to attend the eighth theory workshop between the LPRP and the Chinese Communist Party.
The delegation was headed by Chansy Phosikham, a member of the Political Bureau of LPRP Central Committee and head of the LPRP Central Committee's Organization Department.
His Chinese counterpart Huang Kunming said at the opening ceremony of the workshop on July 9 that deepening exchanges between China and Laos on governing a country is an important consensus reached between top leaders on both sides.
Chansy noted that Laos is willing to strengthen exchanges and pragmatic cooperation with China in a bid to better implement the action plan of building the China-Laos community with a shared future signed between both parties' leaders in late April this year.
Yu Weiguo, Party secretary of Fujian, said at a meeting with Chansy that the workshop was an opportunity for Fujian to expand cooperation with Laos in agriculture, economy, infrastructure, culture and tourism.
Chansy holds that Fujian has made active contributions to the economic and social development of Laos and expects further cooperation with the Chinese province in the field of economy, agriculture and tourism.
Fifty experts and scholars from Laos and China attended the workshop. They shared their ideas on the laws of socialist modernization in both countries.
During stay in Xiamen, Chansy also visited Xiamen Urban Planning Exhibition Hall and was impressed by the city's economic and social achievements over the past three decades since China's reform and opening up.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
