Family members of Tsukamoto Yukishi, a Friendship Award winner and honorary citizen of Fujian province, visited Xiamen, Fujian province from March 2 to 5.

Hu Changsheng, Party secretary of Fujian province, thanked Tsukamoto Yukishi for what he has done for the province's social and economic development, especially his contributions to Fujian's talent training.

The Fujian Fumin Foundation, founded by Tsukamoto Yukishi in 1993, has helped many poor students in Fujian finish their university studies and sent local talents to study overseas.

Hu invited Tsukamoto Hiroaki, son of Tsukamoto Yukishi, to set his sights on Xiamen and introduce more Japanese companies to the city.

Tsukamoto Hiroaki was impressed by Xiamen's achievements in afforestation, landscape management and the conservation of historic buildings.

He expects to seek development and cooperation opportunities in the city in the future.

The Japanese guests also visited Gulangyu Island, a UNESCO world cultural heritage site off Xiamen.

The Friendship Award is China's highest honor given to foreign experts, to express gratitude for their dedication to China's socio-economic progress and development.
