A delegation from Sasebo, Japan visited Xiamen, Fujian province from Jan 15 to 18 to explore the operation of cultural institutions in the city.
The Japanese delegation toured the Chinese city's administrative service center, municipal library, urban planning exhibition hall and Gulangyu Island.
They spoke highly of Xiamen's achievements in the electronic and intelligent construction of handy service for the public and public institutions, expecting to promote such practices in Sasebo.
Sasebo is a sister city of Xiamen. The two cities established a sister-city relationship on October 28, 1983. Since the establishment they have carried out frequent exchanges in the economy, culture, education, art, sports and tourism.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
