Grace Fu Hai Yien, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth of Singapore, led a delegation to visit Xiamen, East China's Fujian province from Dec 4 to 5.
Deputy mayor of Xiamen Guo Guirong met the Singaporean delegation on Dec 4.
Guo introduced to the delegation Xiamen's latest economic and social achievements. Both sides explored how to further promote exchanges and cooperation in trade, the economy, culture and education during the meeting.
The Singaporean minister visited Xiamen-based San'an Optoelectronics Co and local No. 6 High School to seek cooperation with them and learn about the latest educational ideas on the Chinese mainland.
As early as 2014, Grace Fu Hai Yien visited Xiamen as Second Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss how to enhance the two places' cooperation in smart city construction, urban management, urban traffic, water saving and purification, as well as medical care.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
