Representatives from 17 overseas Chinese media visited Xiamen, Fujian province on Nov 23 to record the great changes the city has experienced since China's reform and opening-up four decades ago.
The journalists came from 14 countries and regions, including Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, the United States and Hong Kong.
They visited the former residence of Tan Kah Kee, a patriotic Malaysian Chinese business tycoon; Turtle Garden, where the tomb of Tan Kah Kee lies, and Xiamen King Sun Technology Co, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based King Sun Group.
All of them were impressed by the great changes the city has experienced over the past years.
Hoda Alaa, chief correspondent of China Arab TV in China, who has lived in China for eight years and reported on the BRICS Summit held in Xiamen last year, said that she really feels Xiamen has become more beautiful and livable than even one year ago.
Alaa added that, in her eyes, China's development speed is far beyond her imagination and gives her different impressions each time she comes back again.
Fan Dongsheng, an accredited journalist from Canberra-based STAR AM1323, a bilingual broadcasting station, expected to help more overseas Chinese people learn about their home country through this activity.
The journalists' visit to Xiamen was part of the joint interview event of overseas Chinese media organized by the Press Office and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Fujian Provincial Government.
The event will last for eight days, during which these journalists will visit Fuzhou, Pingtan, Xiamen and Longyan to record the achievements Fujian has made over the past 40 years.
