Gereral secretary of Zoetermeer-Xiamen Friendship Association visited Xiamen, Fujian province from Nov 2 to 12, with the aim of advancing the city's cooperation with the Netherlands on economy, culture, art and education.
The general secretary Hans Mayer and director of the European and African Affairs Division of the city's Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office discussed to establish a Dutch Museum of Human Body in Xiamen.
During Mayer's visit to local Jimei University's School of Fine Arts, the two sides explored the possibility of organizing an exhibition to showcase works of a renowned Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer in the city.
He also shared his opinions with Xiamen Keji High School principle Tan Wei on promoting exchanges between middle schools in the Dutch city and Xiamen Keji High School.
Zoetermeer established an official sister-city relationship with Xiamen on July 14, 2005.
The city is a newly-developed one situated in the center of the country. It has experienced rapid development in recent years and has become one of the most economically vibrant and fastest-growing cities in the Netherlands.
