A documentary showing the unique attractions of countries along the route of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the cultural roots they share with China start shooting Nov 3 in Xiamen, Fujian province.
The documentary Beautiful Nanyang (an old name for Southeast Asia) will see a team of photographers explore the beautiful scenery, unique customs and similar cultures of more than 30 cities in the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei and Cambodia.
It will also show how the BRI is bringing countries together to bring benefits to their peoples.
"The Philippines boasts unique scenery, a rich culture and close contacts with China," Julius Caesar A. Flores, consul general of the Philippines in Xiamen, said at the launch ceremony. "I believe Chinese audiences will have a better understanding of beautiful Nanyang after watching this documentary."
The documentary, produced by China Central Television (CCTV) Documentary Media Co and Xiamen Danxiyinghua Culture Media Co, is expected to hit the big screen in October 2019. As the key project of CCTV's documentary channel in 2019, it will be widely promoted across China and the world.
