Red Dot Design Museum opened in Xiamen, Fujian province on Nov 3, the third one of its kind in the world.
The newly-opened museum is also the first one showcasing works of three categories of Red Dot Design Award: product design, design concept, and communication design.
Red Dot Design Award, founded by a German design council Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in 1955, is one of the top three design awards in the world.
The Red Dot Design Museums are used to present its award-winning designs and the two other museums are located in Germany and Singapore.
When asked why Xiamen, Peter Zec, founder of the award, said that Xiamen natives are the key.
Zec believed that they looked not just for a museum site, but for a partner.
