A delegation of 55 young officers, university students and journalists from the Philippines and Fujian province visited the province's second-largest city, Xiamen, from Oct 24 to 26.
The first Philippines-China (Fujian) Youth Friendly Exchange Program was launched by Fujian's Foreign Affairs Office, China's consulate general in Cebu and Davao, and the Friends of the Philippines Foundation Oct 19.
Members of the program will tour six cities in the two country over two weeks: the Philippines' Manila, Cebu and Davao and China's Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou.
They will visit renowned universities and local governmental agencies to learn about the history, culture and traditions of the cities to strengthen mutual understanding.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
