The Singapore Consulate General in Xiamen held a reception on Aug 18 in celebration of the country's 53rd National Day, which falls on Aug 9.
Han Jingyi, vice mayor of Xiamen, delivered a speech on behalf of the city, noting the progress of the friendly relations between Xiamen and Singapore, as well as the contributions made by a number of well-known companies from Singapore to the city's construction over the past four decades since the implementation of China’s reform and opening-up policy.
Stanley Loh, Singapore's ambassador to China, extended his hope for both sides to take advantage of the Belt and Road Initiative for further and deeper cooperation.
With the theme of this year's National Day being "We are Singapore", the reception featured a picture exhibition on Singapore's diverse culture organized by the Consulate General, who also invited the chorus of the Xiamen Enterprises and Entrepreneurs Association to give a performance on the day.
