A media group from the Dominican Republic toured Xiamen city, East China's Fujian province on from June 29 to July 1 to learn about the beautiful city and deepen mutual cooperation in a variety of fields.
Li Xiaoping, director of Xiamen's Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, and Yao Jianhong, the deputy director, met with the media delegation on June 30.
Li expressed a warm welcome to the media group and hoped to enhance friendly exchange between Xiamen and related cities in the Dominican Republic.
Led by Luis García, the director of the Information Department of the Dominican Republic, the group visited the Longshan Culture Park, Gulangyu Isand and the Confucian Tea Culture Exchange Center where they gained a better understanding of the city's culture and history.
Luis García said that most cities in the Dominican Republic are similar to Xiamen in that they are coastal; thus they present many opportunities for cooperation in the field of tourism. Xiamen is also a beautiful city on the sea.
He hoped that more exchanges of various fields between Xiamen and his country will be conducted in the future.
