The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has become Xiamen's largest foreign trade partner in the first four months of this year with a total trade volume of 33.65 billion yuan ($5.28 billion), according to Xiamen Customs.
Statistics from the customs shows that the ASEAN, the United States and the European Union top the first three trade partners of Xiamen during the same period.
The city's trade with the ASEAN grew 22.3 percent to 33.65 billion yuan and its trade with the other two economies amounted to 32.52 billion yuan and 25.42 billion yuan respectively.
The total trade volume with the top three partners accounts for 48.6 percent of Xiamen's trade with other countries and regions during the months January-to-April.
In the first four months, Xiamen's total foreign trade volume stood at 188.55 billion yuan, up 4.5 percent year-on-year, of which export volume rose 7.6 percent to 102.48 billion yuan and import volume climbed 1.1 percent to 86.07 billion yuan.
