John McCallum, Canadian ambassador to China, together with Rachael Bedlington, Consul General of Canada in Guangzhou, started his first visit to Xiamen on May 7, seeking further cooperation with the coastal city.
Yao Jianhong, deputy director of the city's Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, met with the delegation to discuss the further exchanges between the sister cities and the two governments.
The Canadian ambassador hoped to take the advantage of the China-Canada Tourism Year 2018, an activity to strengthen the two countries' cooperation in tourism and investments, to facilitate the application for visas for residents in both places.
McCallum also visited the city's leading enterprises, including Xiamen Air, Yinxiang food company and King Long, a public vehicle manufacturing enterprises, to explore further cooperation with Xiamen in aviation maintenance, tourism, and food import and export.
China has extended its 240-hour visa-free transit policy and Hainan's 30-day visa-free entry policy to citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam, the National Immigration Administration said on Aug 20.
