Xiamen University announced on Jan 31 that the French research vessel Tara will visit the ports of Sanya, Hong Kong, Xiamen and Shanghai. The Tara vessel is working in partnership with Xiamen University's Jiageng research vessel.
The French ship will begin its China tour on Feb 2, docking in Xiamen from April 2 to April 10 at the Xiamen Dongdu International Cruise Terminal.
The Xiamen stop will feature free tours of the boat for the public, which will include a series of activities designed to promote the protection of the maritime environment.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
