Xiamen, Serbia to deepen cooperation

Han Jingyi, vice mayor of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, called on Xiamen and Serbia to seek cooperation opportunities under China's Belt and Road Initiative in order to promote common prosperity.

Han made the remarks during a meeting with Tomislav Nikolic, former Serbian president and now head of the Serbian national council for coordination with China, on Jan 26.

Han briefed his guest on Xiamen's city planning, industrial development and exchanges with foreign regions.

He stressed that Xiamen is actively involved in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative as it has opened many freight trains to Europe, which will help further the exchanges and cooperation between Xiamen and Serbia.

For his part, Nikolic said Serbia is willing to conduct comprehensive and deeper exchanges and cooperation with Xiamen to bring about mutual benefit.

Nikolic was also impressed by the progress Xiamen has made since the reform and opening-up. He spoke highly of the city's efforts in urban planning and environmental protection.
