A group of 61 Malaysian teenagers of Chinese descent took part in a winter camp at the Chinese Language and Culture College of Huaqiao University in Xiamen, Fujian province from Dec 9 to 20.
The camp was designed to help the teenagers learn about their ancestors and traditional Chinese culture.
The camp was sponsored by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Fujian Provincial Government, the Foreign and Overseas Affairs Office of the Xiamen Municipal Government, and the Foreign and Overseas Affairs Office of the Haicang District.
Li Yongbin, an official with Xiamen's Foreign and Overseas Affairs Office, welcomed the teenagers in a speech at the opening ceremony.
