The Thai Consulate General in Xiamen marked its National Day with fervor in the coastal city of East China's Fujian province on Dec 4.
Han Jingyi, deputy mayor of Xiamen, and Yao Jianhong, deputy head of the foreign and overseas affairs office of Xiamen attended the ceremony at the invitation of the Thai Consulate General.
The Consul-General, Mongkol Sinsomboon delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude for Fujian provincial government and Xiamen municipal government for their support.
Sinsomboon noted that the synergy of Thailand 4.0 and China's Belt and Road Initiative is conducive to strengthening the complementarity of development strategies between China and Thailand, in creating favorable conditions for common development.
The Thailand 4.0 economic model, initiated by the Thai government, calls for integrated economic development in all aspects with the use of technology, knowledge, innovation and creativity to reduce economic and social disparities. The model serves as a road map to promote the prosperity of Thailand over the next 20 years.
Sinsomboon also expressed his wish to strengthen cooperation with Xiamen and deliver more benefits to the peoples.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
