A delegation led by Sakai Tetsuo, vice president of the Japan-China Friendship Association (JCFA) and president of the JCFA of Fukui Prefecture paid a visit to Xiamen, Fujian province from Nov 23-27.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Xiamen Municipal People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries on Nov 24.
Kong Suting, vice president of the Xiamen association briefed the guests on the economic and social development of Xiamen. She noted that her association will promote exchanges between China and Japan. Kong also invited Japanese nationals to visit Xiamen on business tours or for sightseeing.
Sakai was impressed by the achievements Xiamen has made in recent years. As this year marks the 45th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic ties between Japan and China, Fukui Prefecture is seizing the opportunity to strengthen exchanges between the two countries and to establish ties with other local branches of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
