The 2017 Cross-Straits Qipao Cultural Festival will be held in Xiamen, Fujian province on Nov 25, the event's organizers announced at a press conference on Oct 21.
The festival, aimed at promoting the popularity of traditional qipao dresses and strengthening ties between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, is being organized by the organizing committee of the Xiamen International Fashion Week, Xiamen International Fashion Association and Xiamen Qipao Culture Association, under the guidance of the qipao committee of the Chinese Traditional Culture Promotion Society.
Han Shuqin, president of the Xiamen Qipao Culture Association, said at the press conference that the festival would also feature a series of related activities including a qipao fashion competition, a qipao design competition and a grand exhibition at the Xiamen Museum on Nov 26 charting the development of qipao styles throughout the past century.
