The annual Xiamen International Animation Festival will be held from Nov 16 to 19 in Xiamen, Fujian province.
The festival is divided into the following eight activities, namely, animation game and technology expo, animation contest, speeches on animation, cooperation among enterprises from animation-related industries, playing good animations, cyber game competition, cosplay-related events, and game development competition.
The animation contest has ten awards with total prize money of 1.54 million yuan ($233,000) in hopes of promoting the development of the original animations. As a new introduction, foreign animations can now compete for the Best Animation Award this year.
To beef up the event, the animation game and technology expo will add an exhibition area themed on the Belt and Road Initiative to show the achievements Belt and Road countries have made in animation.
An additional branch venue of the festival will be opened in Jimei district, south of Xiamen where many activities will be held, including a concert, an ACG marathon and an animation show.
The festival is sponsored by Xiamen Municipal Government and organized by the organizing committee of Xiamen International Animation Festival. It has been running since 2008.
