Xiamen's value of foreign trade with four BRICS countries of Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa reached 33 billion yuan ($4.95 billion) in 2016. In terms of exports, Xiamen's traditional export products include garments, shoes, LCD screens, light equipments and sports equipments. Its import products include iron ore, stone materials, food, sawn timber, paper pulp and zircon.

China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
