2016 Global Merger Forum

Taking note of the yuan’s growing  influence in the global and domestic economy, and the rapid pace of Chinese  investment overseas, the 19th China International Fair for Investment  & Trade will include a forum to examine investment policies, cases of  investment practices, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) trends  worldwide. 

Government officials from China’s  Ministry of Commerce, foreign diplomats, M&A associations, and investment  agencies are invited to attend the forum to explore new investment opportunities  in the context of the growing influence of the yuan.

Afternoon of Sept  9.

Liu Dianxun, director of the  investment promotion bureau at the Ministry of Commerce, and Yi Xiqun, executive  vice-president of the China Association of Private Equity, are to give speeches  at the commencement of the forum.

3:20 pm – 3:30  pm

Keynote speech by Hans Dietmar  Schweisgut, European Union ambassador to China

3:30 pm – 3:40  pm

Keynote speech by Myron Brilliant,  executive vice-president of the US Chamber of Commerce.

3:40 pm – 3:50  pm

Keynote speech by Xu Jinghong,  chairman of Tsinghua Holdings Co.

3:50 pm – 4:00  pm

Release of two research  reports.

The report on global M&A  activities in 2016 is a joint effort between the China Association of Private  Equity (CAPE) and the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. The report on  legal services for companies undergoing M&A activities is a joint report by  CAPE and the law firm Jones Day.

4:00 pm – 4:40  pm

Roundtable session to talk about  global M&A trends.

4:40 pm – 5:20  pm

Roundtable session to compare the  similarities and differences of M&A activities taking place in China and  Germany

5:20 pm – 6:00  pm

Roundtable session to address the  challenges overseas markets present to Chinese  companies.

6:00 pm – 6:05  pm

Wang Qiongwen, director of Xiamen  Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs will give a speech  summarizing the forum.
