Economist Justin Yifu Lin will feature as a speaker at the 19th China International Fair for Investment & Trade in Xiamen this September.
Justin Yifu Lin studied economics at Peking University, the University of Chicago and Yale University in 1980s. He served as the chief economist and senior vice president of the World Bank between 2008 and 2012.
Lin now acts as director of the Center for New Structural Economics at Peking University. His research area covers agricultural economics, development economics and economic reforms in China.
It will be Lin’s third time at CIFIT. This year, he will give a keynote speech for the International Investment Forum, which will run parallel to the fair. He will also deliver a report on industrial development in Africa at an investment in Africa forum organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the organizing committee of the fair.
UNIDO made efforts to boost sustainable industrial development throughout Africa in recent years. Lin is working with the organization to provide his expertise in economics for the benefit of African countries.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
