
Gulangyu tourism officials are now recruiting eight international ambassadors for the islet in cooperation with Xiamen Daily and Sina Xiamen. Ambassadors will promote Gulangyu internationally through tours and online via WeChat, Sina Weibo and various social networking sites.
The part-time ambassador position includes free entrance to many of Gulangyu’s cultural sites and museums as well as a three-day stay at the Gulangyu Haoyue Resort Center. China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
