Gulangyu tourism officials are now recruiting eight international ambassadors for the islet in cooperation with Xiamen Daily and Sina Xiamen. Ambassadors will promote Gulangyu internationally through tours and online via WeChat, Sina Weibo and various social networking sites.
The part-time ambassador position includes free entrance to many of Gulangyu’s cultural sites and museums as well as a three-day stay at the Gulangyu Haoyue Resort Center. China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
