A team of promoters for the China International Fair for Investment & Trade arrived in the Republic of Korea on May 19 with a string of business visits on their agenda.
Delegates introduced the highlights of the 2016 session of the fair and trends in the convention and exhibition sector in Xiamen to members of the Korea International Trade Association in Seoul. The association is the largest business organization in Korea and was established in 1946 to advance trade activities.
Quality products made in South Korea are expected to be showcased during the 2016 fair in Xiamen in September as a result of the visit to KITA.
One senior officer surnamed Lee from KITA pledged to push for COEX Convention & Exhibition Center, an affiliate of the organization, to join the week-long event on international convention and exhibition in Xiamen in November.
The team traveled north of Seoul to Goyang city to meet with Junior Chamber International's Goyang branch. The JCI members who participated in the 2015 fair were impressed with the fair's effectiveness and the beauty of the city of Xiamen.
Previous presidents of Goyang JCI attended the meeting. The incumbent president Song Dong Ho expressed the hope for closer trade cooperation ties and for Goyang and Xiamen to become friend cities.
On May 20, the promoter's team hosted a presentation at the Korea International Exhibition & Convention Center, with support from Goyang JCI. Top local government officials and a dozen representatives from local companies attended the event.
The team introduced information on the Xiamen free trade zone to local companies eager to get information on the business environment in Xiamen and across China.
One Goyang government official expressed the hope for friendly city relationships with Xiamen and pledged to encourage local businesses to join the Xiamen fair in September.
Air China, the sole airline partner of the fair, gave the latest developments of the company during the event.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
