Xiamen Airlines announced it will launch three intercontinental routes linking Xiamen in Fujian to Canada, the US and Australia this year.
The Xiamen-Melbourne route will have flights every Thursday and Sunday from June 30, with flight numbers MF803. Flights numbered MF805 will fly the Xiamen-Vancouver route every Monday, Thursday and Saturday after July 25. The MR845 numbered flights will operate every Monday, Wednesday and Friday along the Xiamen-Shenzhen-Seattle route from Sep 26.
All flights along the three new routes will be served by Boeing 787s. Discounted air tickets along the three new routes are available globally now, according to Xiamen Airlines.
The three intercontinental routes will make Xiamen China's key transit hub of international service.
Currently, Xiamen Airlines has launched Xiamen-Amsterdam, Fuzhou-Sydney and Xiamen-Sydney routes for the sake of the city's business environment and the implementation of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.
The carrier will also open a Fuzhou-New York route next January to expand the airline network.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
