The 2016 Xiamen International Industrial Exposition concluded in Xiamen, Fujian province on April 15, after four days at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center.
A deluge of product exhibitions and match making activities eventually resulted in four deals being signed, with combined investment totaling 9 billion yuan ($1.4 billion), and 26 prospective agreements for cooperation reached; 57.3 billion yuan investment in total, according to the expo's organizing committee.
Xiamen XGMA Machinery Co reached agreements to export to the Middle East and North Africa. The orders included loaders, excavators and forklifts worth more than $10 million.
Han's Laser Technology Industry Group sold 15 fiber laser marking machines and three ultraviolet laser marking machines on the spot and signed deals to deliver another 18 laser marking machines in the future.
The expo, intent on boosting innovation and technological transformation, attracted 40,000 businesspeople from countries and regions including the US, Germany, Israel. Two hundred and forty-five of the business delegates were from 182 companies and business associations located on the mainland and in Taiwan.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
