Styled as the one and only cross-Strait women's marathon, the 2016 Cross-Strait Ladies Half Marathon will take place in Haicang District on May 1. According to the organising committee, a total of 8000 female runners are expected to participate in the half-marathon and the mini-run race.
The 2016 Cross-Strait Half-Marathon, themed the 'Pink Run', includes a half-marathon for 2000 runners and a 5-kilometre run for 6000. Among the featured teams scheduled to take part are the Pink Ribbon Charity Team, the Bikini Team and the Hot Mom Team.
The organising committee describe it as a, "custom-made marathon race for ladies", as it includes several features especially for female participants. Along the track, there will be supply stations offering red wine and cakes for runners; official pacemakers carrying pink balloons will lead moderate speed runners; and roses and pink medals will be awarded to ladies who finish the race.
In addition, there will be dedicated cosmetics areas and a hair dyeing service will be provided for runners. On top of attentive services and gifts, popular Taiwan band F.I.R has been invited to perform at the race.
