
The 2016 seminar on labor law, tax administration and cross-border electronic commerce took place at the Westin Hotel in Xiamen on Jan 18. The event coincided with an exchange meeting for enterprises in Xiamen and business people and investors from Hong Kong.

The exchange meeting was to help Hong Kong residents with business connections with Xiamen learn the latest news regarding labor laws, tax, new policies of cross-border electronic commerce, the Xiamen free trade zone and the city’s 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).
Experts from King & Wood Mallesons and PricewaterhouseCoopers provided consultancy services and addressed questions about collective wage bargaining, individual income tax and cross-border electronic commerce.
The meeting was sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. (HKSAR) Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office in Xiamen and Administration of Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone. Li Xiaoping, deputy director of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office in Xiamen, was among those in attendance at the meeting.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
