A cycling event along the eastern peninsula of Kinmen was held in Kinmen county, Taiwan on Dec 28, attracting participants from Fujian and Taiwan.
The 30-km track provided exercise to riders while they enjoyed Kinmen's natural landscape and historic architecture.
Yang Huichun, a participant from Xiamen, said that she often cycles in Kinmen. "Kinmen's flat roads and charming scenery make it an ideal place for cycling."
Along with another cycling event and mountain bike match held in Xiamen on Dec 26, the activity aimed to boost cross-Straits interest in sports.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
