BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- An international long-distance walking festival will be held on Dec. 26 in Xiamen city in southeastern China's Fujian Province, organizers said on Thursday.
Freestyle skiing world champion Guo Dandan and swimming world champion Zhao Jing, were named the official brand ambassadors to promote nationwide fitness programs.
The festival, which features 30km professional group walking, 15km amateur group walking and 5km family group walking, will attract about 10,000 walkers from home and abroad, including a number of Olympic champions, the organizers added.
China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
