The 8th Global Conference for Fujianese convened in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Oct 9. More than 1,600 Fujian natives from 70 countries and regions gathered at the triennial event to boost ties and push cooperation. In a congratulatory letter, Fujian Party chief You Quan writes “Fujian has grown into one of the key areas in the country with preferential policies that make it increasingly competitive. China has decided to extend its visa waiver policy to ordinary passport holders from Canada and the United Kingdom starting from Feb 17.
Forty-one new port-of-entry duty-free shops have been established nationwide, with Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, Xiamen Wutong Passenger Wharf, and Xiamen International Cruise Center included on the list.
