Participants in economic, social, and cultural rights workshop visit Xiamen
A delegation of nearly 40 members participating in the Second Workshop on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights visited Fuzhou and Xiamen in Fujian Province from December 12th to 14th.
The workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and supported by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights — the leading United Nations entity in the field of human rights.
In Xiamen, the delegation members visited several core departments and specialized medical centers at Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital, Xiamen University, learning about the Heart Sapling Visiting Scholar Program.
They also explored environmental governance and conservation practices at Yundang Lake, experienced the charm of diverse architectural styles from around the world, visited the "Island of Music" Gulangyu Island, a famed historical international settlement, and observed smart production lines at Xiamen Tianma Display Technology Co., Ltd.
Xiamen Vice-Mayor Zhuang Rongliang met with the delegation to promote mutual understanding and cooperation.
After the visit, participants expressed a deeper understanding of Fujian's socio-economic development, historical and cultural preservation, and grassroots governance. They acknowledged China's achievements in human rights development and looked forward to further dialogue and cooperation to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
