Xiamen strengthens partnership with UN Office for South-South Cooperation
Wang Xiaojun, trust fund director of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), led a delegation to Xiamen in Southeast China's Fujian Province from March 20th to 21st.
Zhang Quan, Director General of Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal People's Government, met with the delegation, highlighting Xiamen's unique resources and successful approaches in global South-South cooperation.
Zhang expressed hope that Xiamen will take on a larger role in global South-South cooperation.
Wang acknowledged Xiamen's strong support for South-South cooperation projects and expressed willingness to collaborate on projects and share experiences with Xiamen in the future.
Both sides agreed to leverage UNOSSC's network to facilitate connection with various UN agencies and enable Xiamen to engage more effectively with global partners under the China-UN South-South Cooperation Support Mechanism.
During the visit, the delegation also visited the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center to learn about the city's cooperation with BRICS and "BRICS+" initiatives, as well as how global development initiatives are being implemented locally.
