Xiamen mayor meets Italian ambassador to China
Huang Wenhui, mayor of Xiamen in Southeast China's Fujian Province, met with a delegation led by Italian's Ambassador to China Massimo Ambrosetti on May 8.
During the meeting, Huang highlighted Xiamen's role as a thriving port for trade since ancient times and as one of the first four special economic zones in China to implement the country's opening-up policy.
He said that the city is actively advancing its high-level opening-up and is striving to take the lead in the nation's modernization drive.
Huang expressed the city's willingness to deepen and expand practical cooperation with Italy in a range of key areas, such as commerce and trade, culture, tourism and education, to achieve mutual benefits and contribute to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Ambassador Ambrosetti praised Xiamen as a city with a beautiful and eco-friendly environment, profound cultural heritage and a vibrant economy, saying that the Italian embassy would continue to act as a bridge and actively promote commerce and trade exchanges between Italy and Xiamen.
