Delegation from Tagum city in the Philippines visits Xiamen
A delegation led by Rey Uy, mayor of Tagum – capital city of Davao del Norte Province in the Philippines – paid an official visit to Xiamen from March 27 to 29.
Zhang Quan, director general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Xiamen Municipal People's Government, met with the delegation on March 28.
Zhang briefed Uy about the social and economic development of Xiamen and recounted the historical exchanges that had taken place between Xiamen and Tagum cities.
He recalled that in 2010, a youth orchestra from Tagum participated in the Gulangyu Music Week event in Xiamen.
Zhang expressed his hope the two cities would further explore and promote exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism and art.
For his part, Uy expressed his willingness to work with the Xiamen Foreign Affairs Office to jointly promote exchanges and cooperation between the two cities in urban governance, music and the arts.
