Xiamen city's mayor meets top delegation from Brazil
Huang Wenhui, mayor of Xiamen city, met with the governor of the Brazilian state of Piaui on Oct 25, along a group of his officials.
Huang welcomed Rafael T. Fonteles and his delegation and briefed them on the economic and social development of the city.
Plans are for Xiamen to further deepen its practical cooperation and expand commerce and trade through important platforms such as the China International Fair for Investment and Trade and the BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center there, Huang added.
Governor Fonteles said during the meeting that he experienced the vitality of Xiamen's economic and social development on-site through the visit.
He added that, taking the visit as an opportunity, the state of Piaui would expand its cooperation with Xiamen in areas such as commerce and trade, technology, energy and education – promoting better Sino-Brazil ties and benefiting the people of both regions.
Zhuang Rongliang, vice-mayor of Xiamen, also attended the meeting and in the run-up to the talks witnessed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Xiamen BRICS Office and the Piaui Strategic Investment Promotion Bureau.
